Guayaba

A poem inspired by words from a man who raised a beautiful garden.

In a recessed corner
Of this carefully minded garden
New growth breaks old ground
And pathways branch from stems

Illuminated from above
Light sparks gems upon the crown
While not far from the roots
Words drop sweetly as “guayaba”
