Eyes

A poem about a dream I had

Eyes stare up into a cloudless sky
My body lies upon sand and stone
Where grass and meadow used to be
A silhouette blots out the otherwise lonesome sun

Lids gently shut as my mind slinks back
To rushing rivers and streams
That this rock and desert used to be
A gust of wind breaks the reverie upon my body

Vision turns away with the little strength I have
Preserving final hope for a future
That eyes may some day see again
A scraping sound of talons grows ever louder
